iPad Resources

Welcome!

Every day we discover more and more ways to integrate the iPad . Below are resources to help support iPad use in the classroom

Professional Development

The following workshops can be conducted at your site or at Summit County ESC. Workshops can be customized to your needs. We can also provide onsite training and assistance with iPad carts. Opportunities for graduate credit through Ashland Univeristy and University of Akron are available. Please contact Laurie Heikkila for more information or to schedule a workshop.

Beginner iPad

With its ease of use and flexibility, the iPad2 has proven to be an effective interactive classroom tool. During this workshop participants will learn how to use the various features of the iPad including the built-in camera. Learn how to search for educational apps for your classroom. Download and see how apps can be easily integrated and enhance your curriculum. Walk away with a lesson plan ready to go for your classroom along with additional resources for classroom integration. iPad can be included in workshop cost.

iPad as an Assistive Technology

Apple is known for its commitment to accessibility on its products and the iPad2 is no exception. Screen magnification, VoiceOver, and a screen reader that can be controlled with hand gestures are just a few of the assistive technology features of the iPad2. Combine these features with apps specifically designed for students with learning challenges, including those with communicative disorders and the iPad 2 becomes powerful assistive technology tool for education. This workshop will cover how to utilize the accessibility features and demonstrate specifically designed apps for students with various disabilities and learning challenges. Participants will leave with apps downloaded for their classroom, additional resources and a completed lesson plan ready to use back in the classroom.

iPad as a Multi-Media Tool for the Classroom

The iPad2 is the perfect multi-media tool for the classroom and fieldtrips. Learn how you and your students can take pictures and video with the iPad2. You will create a slideshow using the photo feature. Then learn the basics of iMovie and create a project right on your iPad 2. Leave with a completed slideshow and iMovie ready to use in your curriculum.
